Already announced at the last IBC, Digital Vision is now announcing the availability of version 3 of the Nucoda Film Master system this year. The Swedish manufacturer cites an improved workflow and expanded interoperability as central innovations.
Many key features were previously found in the DVNR hardware and have now also been implemented in the software. Thus, D-cinema mastering supports 2048 x 1080 dual-link monitoring, 2K/4K HSDL 4:4:4 I/O support for the integration of film scanners, telecines and DDRs as well as 12-bit DPX file import and export. Video support now includes monitoring of interlaced and progressive SD and HD material with 10- and 12-bit output as well as 720p support and has been supplemented by SMPTE Video Level Management with a toolset operating at native SMPTE levels.
In the workflow area, new keyers such as Erode/Dilate, De-Speckle and freely definable edge gradients for glow and halo effects provide better control of keying. Optimisations in the areas of library and cache management as well as the editorial tools now make it possible to work faster with the system, according to the provider. This applies in particular when Nucoda 3.0 runs on Digital Vision’s new X17 workstation. According to the manufacturer, the system is then up to ten times faster.
