Miranda Technologies presented the new Kaleido-X multi-image solution at the IBC. With the device, the Canadian provider of high-performance software and hardware in the broadcasting sector combines monitoring with HD/SD routing for the first time in a single, expandable housing. “Our customers benefit not only from better signal flexibility and space savings, but also from lower costs and less effort in cabling,” says Chief Technology Officer Michel Proulx.
Each Kaleido-X chassis can display 96 HD, SD or analogue signals as often as desired and in any size on eight displays. Resolution and format play no role, nor do blocking or grouping restrictions. The signals are processed uncompressed.
With the integrated router, the input signals can be converted to 48 HD/SD outputs. Kaleido-X addresses not only HD monitors, but also other devices such as VTRs, production switchers or test equipment. The output signals can be controlled via on-screen menus, via a remote panel, the iRouter application, via master control or via the bus controls of the switcher auxiliary.
On the audio side, Kaleido-X enables monitoring of up to 2304 channels. The cabling effort is reduced by Audio Bridge Terminals, with which the signals can be processed via standard video coax.
The XEdit Multi-Room Layout Editor simplifies the networking of central resources. Thus each subsystem works completely independently.
In October, Miranda will supply the first customers with Kaleido-X. The system is to be broadly available from the end of November. The price depends on the configuration.
