Anystream is expanding its own Agility product family with Agility Play-to-the-Air – a solution that plays out programs compressed in Avid’s DNxHD format and intended to be transferred to other playout servers.

At its IBC stand, the company used a six-part server configuration to demonstrate real-time streaming of file-based data formats at twice the transmission speed of previous transmission methods. The user can use it to transfer and play out DNxHD content on playout servers from Grass Valley, Omneon and Pinnacle.

The Anystream concept is based on expanding computing power through grid processors: With the scalable-at-any-time power of the networked computers, broadcasters or playout centres can transfer DNxHD-compressed content to playout servers, especially for news and sports programs. The Agility application for Avid DNxHD is to be available from October 2006.

At the IBC stand, Anystream also offered a first insight into the planned processing of DolbyE audio data and used a prototype of the Dolby DP600 for this purpose. The system enables an automated file-based workflow and converts DolbyE audio data into the data formats selected by the respective user. At present, DolbyE files are streamed to real-time decoders. With the Agility/Dolby DP600 combination, DolbyE becomes an integrated component of file-based broadcast formats and can therefore be used within the production workflow for video on demand, web, IPTV and mobile media. Availability is planned for the beginning of 2007.
