The Hollywood group of the “Association International du Film d’Animation” (ASIFA) is announcing the “Annie Awards” for outstanding achievements in animation for the 34th time.
The organisers will accept registrations until Friday, October 6, 2006. The material must then be submitted by October 27 at the latest.
ASIFA awards its prizes in 23 categories, including the most prestigious, “Best Animated Feature”. In recent years, the winners were “Wallace & Gromit”, “The Incredibles” and “Finding Nemo”, which subsequently also won an Oscar. The other categories range from production design through effects animation to directing.
The productions must have been shown for the first time at a festival or commercially screened in the USA in 2006.
The festive awards ceremony takes place on February 11, 2007, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
Submission is not free: The aspirant must purchase a membership (100 dollars outside the USA) and pay a fee of 25 dollars.
Further information and the registration form can be found on the website.
