Silicon Imaging, a California company specializing in high-resolution digital film cameras, has released a new camera in cooperation with Cineform and Intel.
The Silicon Imaging SI-2K films at resolutions of 1920 x 1080P (HD) or 2048×1152 (2K), respectively. An Intel Core 2 Duo motherboard built into the camera or, optionally, an external laptop equipped in the same way then records the footage uncompressed as 10-bit CineForm RAW or as 12-bit uncompressed 2K, respectively, on hard disk and automatically postprocesses them in a non-destructive process.
With Cineform’s optional Prospect 2K realtime visualization and color-correction software, the footage can then be edited directly. After that, the system can encode the edited material for Digital Cinema or also for Internet streaming.
The camera is available at prices starting from 12,500 dollars. Further product information can be found on the manufacturer’s website.
