Sorenson has released a new version of its Squeeze compression software, which is now available in various editions for Mac and Windows. As a Universal Binary, the Mac version supports Intel and PowerPC Macs equally.
Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 Compression Suite, Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 Compression Suite PowerPack and Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 for Adobe Flash offer, under the surface, processing speed accelerated by a factor of two to three, according to the manufacturer. Another new feature is the option to burn directly to DVD, including chapter markers.
The most important innovation, however, but but is the new output formats, which include Apple’s H.264 codec for MP4 and Quicktime as well as presets for mobile phones or the PlayStation Portable. At the upper end of quality, there are now presets for Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
