Roxio, a division of Sonic Solutions, has released a new version of its DVD authoring software DVDit. DVDit Pro HD is the first version of the software that also, supports the authoring of Blu-ray Discs.
DVDit Pro HD allows authors to output their data in 1080p, 1080i or 720p formats to recordable or replicated Blu-ray Discs. DVDit Pro HD encodes high-definition MPEG-2, AVI, QuickTime and Windows Media videos into Blu-ray Disc-compatible videos.
High-resolution motion and sigle-image formats can also be used for the menus. The integrated HD Menu Compositor assists with the design. HD menus created with Adobe Photoshop can be imported or modified using the prefabricated HD menu templates.
Via the DVDit Pro HD film timeline, eight uncompressed PCM audio tracks and 32 rendered subtitle tracks can be incorporated per film.
For mastering at the pressing plant, authors can have their projects output as DLT or as CMF for the Blu-ray Disc. CSS or AACS copy protection can also be incorporated.
Roxio DVDit Pro HD is available immediately at a price of around 600 euros. Special upgrade options are available for registered users of Roxio and Sonic products.
