For the HD documentary “Ithemba Africa – Hope is coming to Africa”, a charity project backed by, among others, KarstadtQuelle AG and Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Group, the Berlin full-service provider “Die Paten” will take over postproduction. The company is using Quantel’s eQ system for multi-resolution editing, effects processing, color correction and mastering.
“Ithemba Africa” shows the catastrophic effects of HIV in Africa
and at the same time attempts to give a message of hope. The documentary is intended to help find new financial backers for the AIDS program. Its premiere will take place on film in the cinema. “Die Paten” had chosen the eQ system for reasons of speed and quality, explains Managing Director Kay Lottermoser: “The editing is exceptionally fast and other crucial functions such as background archiving and version creation take place ‘on the fly’.”
The Berlin company has worked with Quantel systems for years, and the majority of its commissions concern advertising and design-based projects. The newly acquired eQ system is being used for the first time on “Ithemba Africa”; it supplements existing equipment such as Editbox and Paintbox.
