A new series of events, “HD at Work”, starts in Potsdam-Babelsberg on March 28, 2007. Two to three times a year, filmmakers and specialists from production, recording, postproduction, presentation and broadcasting technology are to have the opportunity to present their HD projects with the latest HD projection technology and discuss their work with others.
Each event has a different motto, but always includes the programme items “Screening”, “Workshop” and “Preview“. At the “Screening”, work examples from HD productions are presented in the cinema of the fx.Center and discussed with competent speakers. The “Workshop” covers the new technical possibilities and their artistic effects, addresses practical questions of production and distribution as well as costing aspects. In the “Preview”, the specialist audience gets to see unpublished HD productions from the fields of commercial, music video, documentary and feature film. At the get-together between the programme items, what has been seen can be discussed and new contacts made, the organisers advertise.
The motto of the first meeting is “HD, the Full Range”. In the “Screening”, scenes from the ZDF movie “Afrika, mon Amour”, which were shot with Arris D20 camera, are shown, among other things. In addition, excerpts from “Guitar Man”, an agent trash film shot in a 1960s look, an HD animated advertising film, the image film for the new Audi R8 and Cinemascope landscape shots scanned at 2K can be seen. The “Workshop” covers the topics HDV, HDCam, 2K. Graduate engineer Mario Hartz from the PostFactory company will demonstrate on the Clipster the effects of compression and resolution on grading and colour corrections and then explain the problem of the different frame rates. In the “Preview”, participants can watch the new Alinfilm production “Spoilsport” with Robert Stadlober and Anna Brüggemann in the leading roles.
“HD at Work” is presented and organised by the non-profit educational company Pro Babelsberg. Event partners are TeleFactory and Studio Berlin, and Sony Germany is involved as a sponsor. Admission costs 20 euros (students: 10 euros), and registration is possible via the project’s website.
The second “HD at Work” meeting is to take place on 22.06.2007. Event planning is open – anyone can submit and present their HD productions.
