NOB Studios GmbH, Hürth, has traded as nobeo GmbH since April 1 and is at the same time investing massively in state-of-the-art high-definition television production technology and in the structural infrastructure. The technical service provider for television productions, which has belonged to the Dutch UBF Media Group since 2004, is thus also separating itself by name from its former parent company NOB, Hilversum (Netherlands). The change of name became necessary for NOB Studios GmbH after the French company Technicolor, which belongs to the Thomson group, took over the Dutch NOB including all naming rights, and Technicolor also indicated a possible market entry in Germany under the name NOB.
The name change was announced on March 29, 2007, at an inauguration ceremony with 400 invited guests. The new HD control room in Studio 6 and the Lofthaus, a new combined office and warehouse building of nobeo GmbH, were presented. With the new Control Room 6, one of the most modern and powerful television control rooms in Europe is available. At the same time, according to the company, this is the first fixed HD control room in Germany. Nobeo is thus the only German studio service provider that can offer its customers high-resolution studio productions with a permanently installed control room. Among the many special features that the Studio 6 control room has to offer is the first LAWO mc2 90 audio mixing console ever.
After only six months of construction, the newly built Lofthaus on the grounds of nobeo GmbH offers 1,400 square metres of very attractive office space – partly with a terrace – as well as space on the ground floor for a new large AV warehouse, workshops and several outside-broadcast trucks. Managing Director Christoph von Borries is certain that another important step in the company’s development has been taken: “Through the extensive investments in HD technology and the new building, we are excellently equipped to expand our good market position further.”
