1st German IPTV Award: Registration Period Begins

Promoting IPTV technology in Germany as a goal

Today the registration period begins for productions for the 1st German IPTV Award. The award is organized by TeleClix GmbH and the Berlin University of Applied Sciences as part of the “Innovation Forums Enterprise Region” funding program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Partners are arvato mobile GmbH, Goldmedia, I-D Media AG, MME Moviement Group, Nacamar GmbH and PricewaterhouseCoopers. It is supported by the Association of the German Internet Industry e.V. eco as well as Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and various media partners.

The 1st German IPTV Award is offered in the five categories “Promising Business Models”, “Outstanding Creativity/ Outstanding Design”, “Exciting Content”, “Innovative Technology” and “International Applications”. Entries can be submitted online (see website below). All organizational information and the conditions of participation can also be found there.

Until July 30, agencies, service providers, clients and students have time to submit their works in the arees of WebTV applications, set-top-box-driven IPTV (STB IPTV) and Mobile IPTV (UMTS etc.). A jury with renowned experts from science, industry, media and agencies is intended to ensure the quality of the competition.

Participation in the 1st German IPTV Award is free of charge for all participants. In addition to being named winner of the 1st German IPTV Award, non-cash prizes with a total value of 45,000 euros await.

With the 1st German IPTV Awards, the organizers pursue several goals. According to their own account, among other things they want to identify creative potential, particularly among small and medium-sized companies in Germany, and encourage implementation – including in the form of prototypes or business models. Projects already under way are to be presented to the public and above all to the financial and venture-capital world and the business world as a whole in Germany. Promoting networking between participants and stimulating cooperation between research and business in the IPTV sector are further goals of the award.
