The mobile Internet represents one of the largest growth markets in the mobile market environment, states the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW) e.V., and is establishing the Mobile Internet and Entertainment working group within the Mobile specialist group. It is headed by Marcel Pirlich (arvato mobile GmbH) and Olav Waschkies (Pixelpark AG), who had already headed the previous Mobile Info/Entertainment working group, in whose “tradition” the participants see themselves.
“We expect the breakthrough of the mobile Internet in the coming months,” explains Frank Vahldiek (Vodafone D2), deputy chairman of the Mobile specialist group: “The right tariffs are available, such as Vodafone’s mobile Internet flat rate, which comes onto the market in mid-June. And the content industry has also responded to this development with the rapid launch of mobile-optimized content offerings.” At precisely at this interface, the newly aligned working group wants to operate according to its own account.
“It is important that representatives of the digital economy respond to the current push by network operators in matters of Mobile Internet and focus their energy on the optimal design of content on the Mobile Internet,” postulates Olav Waschkies, who intends to drive the Mobile Internet topic forward in future. “Our task both in the working group and in the entire specialist group will be to give market participants orientation and structure in the professional context” , adds Marcel Pirlich, who will devote himself more strongly to the Mobile Entertainment area.
With the new structure, the BVDW wants to take account of the relevance of the Mobile Internet topic and further develop this promising topic for the German market. According to Mark Wächter (MWC Consulting), chairman of the Mobile specialist group, a “very dynamic development” is expected in the second half of the year.
