Quato Adds Calibrated Grading Displays

Quato introduces the Intelli Proof 240 motion and 260 motion excellence displays for postproduction and colour grading.

The two models combine video technology with HDTV- and DCI-compliant calibration. They are designed to work with systems including Apple Final Cut Studio and the Color grading application.

The Intelli Proof motion displays target editing, monitoring and video-processing workstations where reliable colour reproduction is required. Quato developed them from its Intelli Proof range for prepress, design and photography.

The 260 model uses a colour space optimised for DCI cinema reproduction. It covers almost the entire DCI gamut within the tolerances of the DCI 1.1 specification. Its wide-gamut panel also supports video material extending beyond BT.709, including xvYCC. The 240 is designed for PAL, BT.1361 and BT.709 and can reproduce standard HDTV content accurately.

Internal 14-bit processing supports calculation and display for prospective Deep Color and xvYCC standards with 10-, 12- and 16-bit colour depths. Both displays provide video-compliant DVI timings at 48, 50 and 60 Hz to prevent tearing. Picture-in-picture is also included.

Hardware calibration provides up to 16-bit calculation accuracy regardless of the signal source. Alongside HD and DCI video presets, users can calibrate the displays directly to a specified brightness, colour temperature and gradation. LUTs can be transferred to the monitor with iColor Display calibration software.

Connections include single-link HD-SDI, component video and two DVI ports for computer-based editing systems.

The Intelli Proof 240 motion and 260 motion excellence will be shown publicly for the first time at the Hands on HD workshop in Hanover from 30 July to 5 August 2007, accompanied by presentations on calibration, gamut and colour correction. Both models are available from summer 2007. Recommended prices including VAT are €3,499 for the 240 and €4,999 for the 260, including a calibration sensor.
