With the start of the conference and course programme, SIGGRAPH 2007 opened on Sunday at 8:30 local time (17:30 CEST). The most important event in the computer graphics industry runs until Thursday of this week. Starting Tuesday, August 7, the Siggraph exhibition area also opens its doors.
This year, the course programme contains 33 carefully selected presentations and contains events ranging from simple tutorials through to half- and full-day sessions. The topics offered range from digital art, through game development, to film production.
The highlights include a course by Philippe Gluckman (PDI/DreamWorks), who analyzes the technical evolution from “Shrek to “Shrek the Third”, the course “High-Quality Rendering Using Ray Tracing and Photon Mapping”, in which Henrik Jensen of the University of California, San Diego, explains in detail how Ray Tracing and Photon Mapping algorithms are used to Render highly complex scenes, and “Fluid Simulation” by Robert Bridson (University of British Columbia ), who explains the use of fluid simulations from the basics to the current state of the art.
DIGITAL PRODUCTION is on site with a team of four reporters and keeps readers up to date with text and film reports and photo series.
