Sixteen solo albums by John Lennon released by EMI Music are available in the iTunes Store for the first time as of today, including the two collections ‘Lennon Legend’ and ‘Acoustic’, which are being made available digitally for download worldwide for the first time. For a limited period of 30 days, exclusive video material is included with the albums ‘John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band’, ‘Sometime in New York City’, ‘Walls and Bridges’, ‘Milk and Honey’ and the collections ‘Anthology’ and ‘Working Class Hero’.
“John would have loved that his music is now available in a format that reaches a new generation of listeners,” says Yoko Ono.
“John Lennon is one of the greatest artists of our time,” says Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple. “We are delighted to be able to offer his solo works in the iTunes Store for the first time.”
As part of EMI Music’s offering, John Lennon’s solo catalogue is available in iTunes Plus. iTunes Plus offers DRM-free music encoded in AAC at a bit rate of 256 kbps and thus offers audio quality that can no longer be distinguished from the original recording – at a price of only 1.29 euros per song.
