The finalists for the first German IPTV Award have been announced. The organisers said that 121 entries were submitted in total, representing around a quarter of all IPTV applications in Germany. The judges found the quality of the entries highly variable, while scores among the leading group were close. The jury shortlisted 29 entries across the four categories of Business Model, Technology, Creativity/Design and Content, as well as for a special award.
The winners will be announced on 30 August during medienwoche berlin-brandenburg at the Berlin Congress Center on Alexanderplatz. Brandenburg Minister-President Matthias Platzeck is patron of the event. Attendance at the awards ceremony is free following advance registration at http://www.forum-iptv.org.
The organisers, TeleClix GmbH and Technische Fachhochschule Berlin, intend the first German IPTV Award to provide stronger impetus to the media industry and to discover and strengthen creative potential. The award is supported through the Federal Ministry of Education and Research programme “Innovationsforen Unternehmen Region”. Partners are arvato mobile GmbH, eco Association of the German Internet Industry, Goldmedia GmbH, I-D Media AG, MME Moviement Group, Nacamar GmbH, PricewaterhouseCoopers and SevenOne Intermedia. Media partners include the trade publications Horizont and iBusiness, the consumer magazine TV Movie and press service press1.de.
