SANYO is applying its proprietary technologies under its “Think GAIA” programme to offer new solutions. The company positions the PLV-Z2000 as a home-cinema system for digital Full HD films. Its extensive lens-shift function is designed to accommodate difficult rooms and project large images from a range of positions.
Key features include horizontal and vertical lens shift for installations in living rooms or smaller spaces. SANYO also described its 19-decibel cooling system as the quietest on the market, intended to avoid masking quiet film scenes. A 3D colour-management system supports Full HD projection.
Demand for affordable large flat-panel televisions was accompanied by growing demand for home-cinema projectors capable of images measuring 80 inches or more. The home-projector market was expected to reach 600,000 units by the end of 2007. Digital television broadcasting and demand for next-generation DVD equipment were also expected to support the segment.
Since introducing integrated lens shift with the PLV-Z1 in October 2001, SANYO had continued to develop the function across its home-cinema projectors. The PLV-Z2000 carries the Z-series approach into a Full HD-compatible design.
The PLV-Z2000 provides more than twice as many pixels as traditional projectors such as the PLV-Z5. Its integrated lens shift supports vertical adjustment of up to three screen heights and horizontal adjustment of up to two screen widths. A 2× wide-angle zoom supports large projections in living rooms and smaller spaces.
In “Theatre Black Mode,” a newly developed large-aperture Sirocco fan runs at 19 decibels while cooling the projector. The 3D colour-management system optimises the “Real Color Optical System.” SANYO stated that it offers 1,100 times finer colour management, around 2.16 billion combinations, than traditional models to improve control of primary colours.
An automatic stepped iris combines design and function. Two Deep Color HDMI 1.3a inputs and 14-bit gamma correction are included for natural colour reproduction.
