eBay Germany head Stefan Groß-Selbeck announced on Tuesday «the most far-reaching and fundamental changes to date» on the German marketplace.

Alongside the online appearance, revised in terms of content and graphics, the most important innovations include new search functions and a «sell-in-three-minutes» form. Customer inquiries are also to be answered increasingly via the telephone hotline. Capacities there would be quadrupled.

A new community offering is intended to support communication between the platform’s eBay users. The price for listing an item with a starting price of one euro starting price with a so-called gallery image is being reduced to 49 cents. Previously, 25 cents was due for the item and 75 cents for the image that appears in the search-results overview.

According to its own information, eBay has around 24 million members in Germany. That is around 13 percent more than in the previous year, Groß-Selbeck said at the company headquarters in Dreilinden near Berlin.
