Maintaining Modern Workstations Remotely

NTRglobal recognized the trend toward increasing the productivity of multi-display workstations early on, and with its NTRsupport remote-support solution offers suitable software for web-based IT assistance from afar.

Modern workstations already have two or more monitors today. This allows employees to use several IT applications such as CAD, email and browser applications simultaneously, thereby increasing effectiveness and productivity at work. So that these advantages do not evaporate in the event of technical problems, the service technician can use NTRsupport to access the affected computer quickly and securely and provide the appropriate assistance remotely – exactly as if he were sitting directly beside the employee in the office.

The web-based NTRsupport solution requires only an Internet connection on the employee’s side, who personally authorizes every system access, every remote-control action and every work step taken by the technician. Once permission has been granted, the session can be started without the prior installation of additional software. Within a few seconds, the support technician accesses the employee’s computer – completely independently of the operating system installed on it. In multi-monitor environments, all displays in use and approved are shown on the technician’s screen. By scrolling to the right, he gets view of all authorized displays; monitors not approved by the employee are highlighted in blue. While the faulty application is worked on by the administrator and the problem is resolved, the employee follows every work step on the screen in real time. Simpler IT problems may thus perhaps be resolved independently by the user in the future without external help having to be requested. While the administrator provides remote support, the employee can interrupt and abort the session at any time if necessary. NTRsupport’s 256-bit AES encryption also prevents any unauthorized access to data, applications or systems.

„We continuously adapt our product range to market requirements,” says Michael Kessler, CEO, NTR Germany. „Employers require their employees to work on the move, flexibly and productively. With our solutions, we try to meet these high requirements across industries. Time is money. It has always been that way and will always remain that way.”

Remote support of IT systems in multi-monitor work environments with NTRsupport is currently still in the beta phase. Completion of the beta phase is planned for the end of this year.
