Adobe has announced Audition 3, a new version of the integrated solution for professional audio production. Audition 3 offers professional users such as sound designers, recording directors, producers and musicians a flexible production environment for recording, mixing and mastering audio content. With comprehensive functions for audio postproduction and restoration, Adobe Audition 3 helps professionals create high-quality music and radio spots. In addition, damaged recordings can be restored with technically sophisticated tools. Other new functions include support for virtual instruments (VSTi) with a piano-roll editor for MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), optimized editing options in the spectral view, crossfade settings and support for multi-core systems.
“Adobe Audition 3 contains many new functions for all user groups,” said Fritz Fleischmann, Managing Director of Adobe Systems GmbH and Senior Managing Director Central and Eastern Europe. “We have not only concentrated on developing new creative possibilities and improved editing tools. Rather, we have also increased performance and integrated time-saving functions into the product. This means it costs our customers less time to work with the software, giving them more time to create the perfect sound.”
Thanks to the new support for multi-core systems and an optimized mixing engine, Adobe Audition 3 helps users save time by allowing them to work with multiple tracks and effects on the same system. In addition, on-clip gain controls, top or bottom view in editing mode, automatic crossfades and settings options for grouped clips make mixing and editing easier than ever.
Adobe Audition 3 has new functions that provide expanded possibilities for visual editing and restoration. Adaptive noise reduction and several phase-correction tools supported the restoration of recordings. The editing options in the spectral frequency display have been expanded with paintbrush effects and the spot-healing brush, which resemble the tools in Adobe Photoshop CS3. With the new selection tool in the spectral balance and phase views, users can visibly isolate and edit individual sequences by time, frequency, phase or balance and thus go to the limits of editing and control possibilities.
Adobe Audition 3 for Windows XP or Windows Vista is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2007. The price of the full version is around 350 euros (plus value-added tax). Users of earlier versions of Adobe Audition and Adobe Production Studio have the option of purchasing an upgrade for about 100 euros (plus value-added tax).
