“Interface 2007 – 40 Years of Speed and Space: Los Angeles-Berlin” reflects the work of artists from Berlin and Los Angeles from September 14 to 30, 2007 who explore the border areas between the disciplines of music, sound design and Visual Arts. On the occasion of this festival, a retrospective work show of the audiovisual body of work of the Los Angeles Free Music Society is now being presented for the first time in the MAGIX Multimedia Gallery. Previously unpublished archive material from experimental short films, performance documentaries, slide shows and animations provide a unique insight into the cinematic and musical oeuvre of the artist network.
In addition, the MAGIX Multimedia Gallery is exhibiting the video installations “Circular Roots” and “Cancoes dos Olhos” by the highly regarded composer, theorist and music technology researcher Professor Paulo C. Chagas. The 15-minute sound and image composition “Circular Roots” received an award as the best sound experiment at the Film Festival Flor 2005 in Porto-Alegre, Brazil.
