For the opening of the first German Photoshop Convention on October 11, 2007, organizer Macromedia has come up with something special: In addition to a fireworks display of absolute top tips on the new Photoshop version CS3 (presenters will include Jack Davis, author of the well-known Photoshop Wow! book, and Julieanne Kost, author of the Classroom in a book series), there will be a panel discussion on the topic “Are Pictures Allowed to Lie?”
The discussion will be moderated by Michael Baumgardt, the event’s technical director. The subjects of the conversation include the well-known Dove average-women campaign and the Reutersgate affair. Aesthetic, legal and moral questions of published image editing will be discussed. Guests include Rüdiger Schrader (editor-in-chief of photography at the magazine FOCUS), Matthias Wetzel (art director at the Munich advertising agency XYNIAS,WETZEL), Anders Uschold (court expert for image manipulation) and Dr. Roger Mann, owner of the law firm DAMM & MANN and specialist in online and media law. Afterwards, Macromedia and premium partner Adobe invite the speakers and participants in the panel discussion to a reception.
