A German media study found that 7.2 percent of internet users aged 14 to 64 regularly created blogs, comments, photo or video posts, or online reviews.
That group represented about 2.5 million people. A further seven percent regularly maintained a personal website, while the researchers expected most users to remain primarily consumers rather than producers of online media.
Nearly 70 percent of Germany’s population aged 14 to 64 used the internet. The rate exceeded 90 percent among young people and managers, and average weekly use reached eleven hours.
Broadband was identified as a major driver for video streaming, IPTV and other multimedia services. About 40 percent of the age group had a high-speed connection.
The MarkenProfile research divided users into six media-attitude groups: creators at eight percent, demanding users at eleven percent, digital natives at 13 percent, entertainment-oriented users at 24 percent, practical users at 21 percent and slower adopters at 23 percent.
The study was produced by Sinus Sociovision with the German magazine Stern.
