EICTA introduced minimum display requirements and a logo for the HD ready 1080p designation.
Pioneer said its current and previous 1080p flat-panel televisions met the new criteria. The company had avoided proprietary Full HD labels in favour of EICTA’s earlier HD ready programme.
Compatible products included the PDP-5000EX, introduced in June 2006, and four Pioneer Kuro models released in Europe in September 2007.
The Kuro range comprised two 50-inch and two 60-inch 1080p televisions. The PDP-LX508D had received a 2007 European Image and Sound Association award in the 1080p plasma-TV category.
EICTA’s label was intended to provide a common designation for displays meeting the association’s published 1080p requirements.
