Digital Jungle used a Quantel Pablo system to finish the 13-part travel series 1000 Places to See Before You Die for Discovery and Travel Channel.
Source material included DVCPRO 720p, DVCAM, HDCAM, Beta SP, Digital Betacam, QuickTime files, TIFF images and JPEG images. Pablo placed different frame rates and resolutions on one timeline and produced the required output format after editing.
Digital Jungle handled online editing, colour correction, titles and audio mixing within a two-month schedule. The facility planned to make Pablo the centre of a new digital-intermediate department with a Barco DLP-90 digital-cinema projector and 35 mm film projectors.
Pablo combined colour correction, restoration, compositing and editing. Its frame-based storage allowed revised project versions to retain unchanged frames without duplicating the complete programme.
Paris laboratory Ciné Dia also installed Pablo for post-production and digital-intermediate grading, allowing directors, cinematographers and artists to adjust images together in real time.
Virginia facility Olive’rTwist adopted a Quantel eQ for HD and SD editing, effects, grading and deliverables. Its operator moved from Quantel Henry to eQ while retaining a familiar interface and adding HD capability.
