gamearea Promotes Frankfurt Games Sector

gamearea FRANKFURTRHEINMAIN adds a blog and industry events to connect regional game developers, publishers and technology companies.

gamearea FRANKFURTRHEINMAIN launched a blog to give the regional games industry a public discussion platform.

The initiative also joined the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Creative Industries programme at the 2007 Frankfurt Book Fair. A dedicated games area was intended to introduce computer games to visitors outside the sector.

Founded in April 2007 by Weber Networking and Cliffhanger Productions, gamearea aimed to raise awareness of game development in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region.

Its programme connected companies in development, publishing and technology while expanding contact with other industries, associations and policymakers. The group described itself as a cross-industry interest community rather than a formal trade association.

Supporters included 10Tacle Studios, Atari Germany, Crytek, EA Phenomic, Hessen Agentur, Messe Frankfurt and MSI Technology.
