Colorfront selected a 43 TB DVS-SAN for its Budapest post-production facility. The central storage system used components from DataDirect Networks and was designed for massively parallel operation.
DVS said the configuration could handle six uncompressed 2K streams concurrently in real time. RAID 5 protected the shared storage, while the DDN components increased both bandwidth and total capacity.
The system was intended for collaborative digital-intermediate workflows requiring distributed storage and real-time access to SD, HD, 2K and 4K material. DVS’s Spycer data manager provided file browsing and search, metadata editing, high-speed copying and defragmentation.
DataDirect supplied its S2A storage architecture for the installation. The open real-time design connected heterogeneous workstations and applications over Fibre Channel while supporting shared file systems.
DVS planned to offer the DDN-based configuration as an enterprise tier alongside its entry-level and mid-sized storage systems. The company presented the system at HD World in New York.
