ZDF tivi Online Game Wins GIGA-Maus

ZDF tivi’s Startklar für 1, 2 oder 3 wins a GIGA-Maus award for an online game about preparing a television studio.

ZDF tivi’s Startklar für 1, 2 oder 3 received a GIGA-Maus award for the best online offering.

The game placed players in a virtual television studio and asked them to prepare the quiz programme for recording. Tasks included answering questions, conducting research and completing exercises involving speed, creativity and logical reasoning.

Unlike the television version, the main focus was the work behind the programme rather than simply finding the correct quiz answers. The design aimed to build media literacy while explaining familiar elements of the show.

The GIGA-Maus recognised family software and online services, including educational and creative programs, websites and games. Its ten-member jury included researchers, educators, psychologists, specialist journalists and pupils.

The game was also nominated for the 2007 Prix Europa Internet Exploration Award. ZDF’s tivi.de portal supplemented children’s programmes with information, interactive activities, images, video, and video and audio podcasts.
