BBC and Adobe formed a non-exclusive partnership to deliver BBC iPlayer video streams through Adobe Flash Player. The broadcaster planned to make the free service available to UK viewers by the end of 2007.
The Flash implementation supported Mac OS X, Linux and Windows and was intended to provide a consistent interface for most streamed audio and video on the BBC website.
The on-demand streaming service supplemented the existing iPlayer download service. Access remained restricted to audiences in the United Kingdom.
