Wireless & Mobility conference on November 8 at Interop Berlin

The organizational and technical linking of mobile communications and WLAN is the focus of the Wireless & Mobility conference at the Interop Congress on November 8. High-caliber speakers from Hewlett-Packard, Veriwave, Nokia, Aruba Networks, Cisco, Ipass and Extricom report on concrete solutions and new technologies at the Berlin exhibition grounds.

Convergence, mobility and security – these are the central challenges when it comes to the convergence of mobile communications and WLAN. The spectrum ranges from technical linking to the complete integration of network infra-structures. The aim is to grant employees the greatest possible mobility by involving them productively in corporate communication everywhere and at all times.

Seamless availability in WLAN and guaranteed transmission times go hand in hand with high requirements for reliability and especially security. The integrated firewall and improved access control ensure the security of wireless networks and thus also the secure mobile integration of business-critical business processes. For example, sophisticated identity and access management is required to ensure at all times that only approved systems gain access to the network. All these are aspects that will be addressed at the Wireless & Mobility conference at the Berlin Interop Congress. The Interop Congress takes place in parallel with Interop Berlin 2007 from November 6 to 8, 2007 at the Berlin exhibition grounds and is organized by CMP Technologies and CMP-WEKA Deutschland.

The next generation of Wi-Fi networks is currently the subject of heated discussion. Among other things, this concerns the influence of 802.11n on existing networks and applications: Does more bandwidth mean faster notebooks, greater productivity and a better user experience? When will stable clients be available, and when will applications use the available bandwidth? How will users benefit from the greater capacity, bandwidth and range of 802.11n? Is 802.11n only an extension for existing Wi-Fi networks? How does 802.11n influence frequency planning and the positioning of access points? What demands does the new technology place on performance and bandwidth? How will the implementation of an 802.11n network affect neighboring installations?

The migration strategies of companies include assessing various solution variants in terms of benefits and weaknesses. Added to this is consideration of installation in new buildings as well as coexistence with other network infrastructures. Specifically: Is the investment in the new technology worthwhile?
