AUVICA is launching osTube 2.0, an update to its innovative Media Content Management System for operating video and community portals. Alongside the extensive functions for controlling and managing an online video community, the new version adds media types such as audio and documents alongside video and images, as well as two standard templates. The framework also includes new features such as a blog, shoutbox, RSS, social bookmarking, and a new Flash player with a custom watermark. In addition to the Enterprise Edition, the significantly enhanced software is available as a free download in the Community Edition.
“User-generated content becomes user-generated communities—that is the basic idea we are implementing with osTube 2.0. Whether for private purposes, such as holiday or leisure videos, or for clubs, gaming clans, event organizers, or existing online portals, AUVICA provides osTube 2.0 as the tool for solutions involving content and social networking. Using the admin functions and the variable CSS-based templates, any ambitious user can immediately and quickly customize the portal’s design and layout,” says Stefan Hoeper, CEO of AUVICA, on the launch of the update.
Once the community has been set up, administrators have access to two complete language packs and functions that exceed the standard of comparable portals: dynamic positioning of homepage and community elements using Ajax and drag-and-drop, including an Ajax progress bar to support uploads; uploading a custom logo via an admin function; and various presets for conversion quality, all of which enable the creation and management of an individual video community. Users then have access to RSS functions and a push service, embedded blogs, comment sections, their own guestbook, and the option to create a comprehensive profile. They can, of course, also comment on, rate, report, and send media to friends, embed content on other sites, and create closed user groups.
Administration of the free osTube 2.0 Community Edition is not only straightforward but also allows users to exercise their own creativity in the structure and design of the flexible software. AUVICA also offers an optional installation service for the Community Edition. The Enterprise Edition can additionally incorporate formats such as live streaming, HDTV, and IPTV, as well as payment solutions and functions for mobile uploads and downloads. AUVICA also acts as a service provider and offers full-service hosting, including cluster solutions, for large companies.
