President Stefan Klarner and Vice President Max Barth emphasized during the presentation of the association in Stuttgart that “the time of lone fighters” was over in digital media. “Now the comparatively small local and specialist channels in the digital world also have a voice in order to be able to play along in the concert of the big players”.
In addition to representing the interests of its members, the association’s aim is also to establish joint marketing, the pushing of new business models, networking and joint strategic positioning.
19 TV and IPTV broadcasters from Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Berlin are already on the membership list: among others Basketball BW, Kraichgau-TV, RIK Brühl, Mediendienst Waghäusel, Regio-TV Schwetzingen (i.Gr.), RiK Reutlingen, BW Eins, Prometheus, Studio Live, Literatur TV, Culinaria, Landschaft TV, KM K-TV, Kultur BW-TV, Gesund-TV Baden-Württemberg, HD Campus TV, Body and Balance. More are to be admitted quickly. “It is particularly important that 9 universities from Baden-Württemberg are also indirectly on board via HD Campus TV. This allows the association to draw on technical innovation and current research within its ranks,” Vice President Max Barth explains.
“Initial discussions with IPTV and TV broadcasters have shown us that the VdiF is urgently needed as an interest representation,” says VdiF President Stefan Klarner. “It is 5 minutes to twelve: At present, the rules of the game in the digital world are being decided and the small broadcasters are in danger of being left behind. One of our
demands is non-discriminatory access to the viewer,” says Klarner.
In the future, internal association working groups are to deal with the topics “Local TV”, “Specialist TV” “Internet TV”, “Finance”, “Sales”, and “Marketing and Public Relations”. Association headquarters: Eningen (BW).
