The company Globell has announced that it is distributing the image-editing software Portrait Professional 6.0 (PP6) with immediate effect. According to the companies, the retouching software created by the Anthropics Technology is “drilled” in current ideals of beauty, thereby enabling even inexperienced users to perform professional photo retouching in a short time.
For this purpose, the software was fed a large number of sample portraits, says Anthropics. As a result, it knows the current human ideal of beauty and can thus facilitate corresponding retouching. For image editing, the user has to mark distinctive points of the face (eyes, tip of the nose, corners of the mouth) and help the programme determine its contours. The characteristics of the portrait can then be changed with simple tools. Among other things, the exposure can be corrected or the eye colour intensified.
The programme even carries out certain standard corrections automatically. This includes, among other things, removing red eyes, brightening the teeth and retouching skin blemishes or spots as well as unwanted highlights. The programme not only delivers results faster than, for example, Photoshop, but is especially suitable for users without real retouching knowledge, says the company.
Portrait Professional 6.0 has already been available in Great Britain for several months and received some outstanding reviews from the specialist press there. In the version now distributed by Globell, Portrait Professional is presented completely in German for the first time, as a company representative explained in response to an enquiry from pressetext. The download version at http://portraitprofessional.de costs around 50 euros, but can only process JPEG and TIFF file formats. Portrait Professional Max 6.0 is required to edit the RAW raw-data format, which costs just under 90 euros. A free trial version is available for sampling, but it does not allow edited photos to be saved.
