Many buyers of the Apple iPhone are disappointed that most videos available on the internet cannot be played on their device because of the player’s system restriction. Dailymotion has a remedy for this: According to Alexa, the world’s largest independent video platform is introducing a version of its website optimised for the iPhone.

Until now, the iPhone could only play online videos via the supplied YouTube player. However, since this player can only play videos on a Flash basis, the video offerings of many other video sites based on Flash technology cannot be played on the iPhone. Dailymotion’s iPhone version solves this problem in a simple and ingenious way: The portal, equipped with a clear graphical user interface, converts videos into Quicktime format. This means all videos from Dailymotion’s offering can be accessed in first-class quality via the iPhone’s Safari browser.

As a convenient application, Dailymotion also offers the option of keyword searching. The results are displayed in thumbnails and can be started directly in fullscreen mode by touching the display.

Owners of the iPhone have access to Dailymotion’s extensive video offering with 26 channels via the Safari browser integrated into the device. The iPhone user can browse the „Video Stars“, „Channels“, „Best Rated“, „Newest“ and „Previously Viewed“ menus or search for videos by keyword.
