Soundarchiv membership is free. Film producers, sound studios and advertising agencies can license sound effects from €1.29 for professional and personal projects.
The catalogue includes the animal-sound archive of Humboldt University of Berlin, described as one of the oldest and most extensive collections of its kind, with around 110,000 recordings.
More than 1,600 animal sounds, ranging from African elephants to king penguins, are available for direct download. Other categories cover material from applause to passing aircraft.
Founder and Managing Director Marek Janetzke says the marketplace lets contributors offer their work to an international audience and receive direct feedback through demand and market trends.
