Quark Inc. announced today that the company is making a free online book available to its customers for download. The book contains instructions on how QuarkXPress® 7 can be integrated into Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 to get the maximum benefit from the design tools. Written by Quark® internal experts, the book describes in detail how users can work with QuarkXPress 7 and Adobe applications (Illustrator®, Photoshop®, Dreamweaver® and Flash®) to fully exploit the potential of their layout and design software.
QuarkXPress 7 now provides even better Photoshop and Illustrator integration. Thanks to standards such as SWF, XHTML and CSS, users of QuarkXPress can now publish across media, – either independently of or together with the applications of Adobe® Creative Suite®, e.g. Adobe Flash® (SWF) and Adobe Dreamweaver®. The book shows in great detail how QuarkXPress can be used together with Creative Suite and provides best practices for users of both applications.
QuarkXPress and Photoshop are today the most widely used professional design applications. Many are of the opinion that, of all currently available layout programs, QuarkXPress 7 offers the best integration with Photoshop’s PSD file format. The book gives recommendations on when the PSD format should be used for images and how the best results can be achieved in doing so.
Illustrator is also a frequently used application that is popular for designing logos and vector graphics. In the past, it was customary to export an EPS file from Illustrator in order to edit it in QuarkXPress. Today, an editable PDF file is created in Illustrator and imported into QuarkXPress. This not only offers greater flexibility, but also has the advantage that this Illustrator file can be easily distributed within the company and used jointly with colleagues.
With Quark Interactive Designer, it is now easier than ever before to export SWF files (Flash®) directly from QuarkXPress 7. Users can easily create interactive layouts by combining the design power and ease of use of QuarkXPress 7 with the performance and flexibility of the Flash format. Thus, no one has to master several programs any more in order to design printed products, presentations and online multimedia layouts.

It evaluates how well the individual functions of QuarkXPress 7 and InDesign CS 3 can be integrated into the individual applications of Creative Suite.
