The opening event for “CeBIT PreView 2008” is the “Innovation Summit – How Future-Proof Is Germany?” on January 15 in Hamburg. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the nationwide hightech presseclub e.V., personalities such as Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer, IBM boss Matthias Hartmann, Günther Jünger (INTEL), Michael Bräuninger (HWWI) and Hamburg’s Senator for Economic Affairs Gunnar Uldall will provide answers to questions such as: “What must change so that Germany can survive in global competition?
On the following days at “CeBIT PreView 2008”, CeBIT exhibitors will then provide information about their innovations, trends, new technologies and strategies. Taking part will be: Arcor, ASUS, BT, CoreMedia, ERICSSON, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, FUKATO, hama, INTEL, Microsoft, Navigon, NAVTEQ, Packard Bell, Samsung, T-Mobile, Toshiba, VMware, Vodafone. This year, more than 400 visitors from five countries attended the journalistically prepared CeBIT preview in Hamburg and Munich.
Alongside trade-fair innovations, “CeBIT PreView” is always also about trends, industry information, market developments and conversations with decision-makers from important CeBIT exhibitors. High-calibre keynotes provide an overview of important trends. The opening keynote on January 16 (9:30a.m., Hamburg) will be given by Dr. Martins Virsis, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia. He will report how the small Baltic state – one of the fastest-growing economies in the world – succeeded, with the help of IT and telecommunications, in catapulting itself into the digital age within a few years.
Under the title “When the Television Communicates with the Printer”, the keynote on January 17 (9:30a.m., Hamburg) will revolve entirely around the new wireless USB (WUSB) standard. With a small stick inserted into the computer’s USB slot, devices are networked wirelessly with one another via WUSB and can communicate without cables from then on.
The keynote on January 22 (9:15 a.m., Munich) deals with the trend topic “mobile Internet”. Under the question “Mobile Internet – On the Verge of a Breakthrough?”, it will provide answers, among other things, as to why Google & Co are suddenly so intensely interested in the mobile communications market.
Another highlight of “CeBIT PreView 2008” will be the “CeBIT Trend Talk” in Munich on January 23, organized by the event organizer, the Hamburg company Preview Event & Communication, in cooperation with CHIP. Topic: “Green IT: Industry under Power – Digital Revolution, Climate Killer?”
