Joint venture enables vendor-independent AV and calibration training

Flat screens do not forgive incorrect settings. Candy colours, a comic-book look and artificial image exaggeration often dominate not only at the POS, but also prevent correct, high-quality reproduction of premium television and video material in customers’ homes. Two companies are now joining forces to counter this problem: Datacolor and MGR International

With immediate effect, Datacolor AG is appointing MGR International Beratungs GmbH und Co. KG as its official European training partner. “The newly founded MGR International in Berlin advises industry and retailers on the professional reproduction of video and sound. It also provides training in this demanding segment and uses the best components for video projectors, LCD panels and sound equipment,” explains Christoph Gamper, General Manager EMEA, Consumer Business Unit, Datacolor AG. “MGR approached Datacolor because, in its judgement, our ColorFacts calibration system for colour displays and video projectors is the best on the market in its price class. We are proud that MGR is now our official training partner.”

Working together for better images and vendor-independent retailer training

Knowledge is power – especially when the aim is to distinguish and set oneself apart from the competition through advice and service. In the increasingly dense technology jungle of the consumer-electronics industry, it is therefore essential for retailers to remain abreast of developments through regular further training. With this training, retailers can advise their customers competently and correctly and offer services that go beyond the normal sales discussion. Display calibration and the optimum adjustment of different AV components to one another thus represent an opportunity for expanded “after-sales support”, in which products are optimally adjusted and configured in the customer’s home after delivery. Retailers are often dependent on manufacturer training, however, which may cover certain technological properties of the manufacturer’s “own” products but frequently cannot provide the complete “video” picture with the necessary broader perspective. That is now set to change: Datacolor and MGR International will from now on offer vendor-independent professional AV training in which retailers are not only trained in AV, but also have the opportunity to purchase calibration equipment at low cost – including professional calibration training that enables them to work independently with that equipment in future. Datacolor will thus be responsible throughout Europe for distributing ColorFacts® and MGR International for retailer training and certification.

Power packages for maximum image quality: Datacolor ColorFacts® including high-quality JKP training

As the European representative of Joe Kane Productions (JKP), MGR International offers multi-level JKP training that helps retailers identify product quality before expanding their portfolio and make the optimum settings when delivering equipment. The JKP logo, which is awarded after such training, demonstrates to end customers that the retailer has first-class expertise and operates according to a unique code in order to preserve cinematic art and quality through considered product selection, recommendation and calibration. Through the MGR/Datacolor cooperation, professional product/training packages will now be offered alongside the standard JKP training courses. These include both the current “ColorFacts” calibration software with measurement sensor and the associated ColorFacts® training including JKP training. Because JKP training courses build on one another and retailers must pass a test to reach the next training level, the ColorFacts® packages are offered either with JKP Level 1 or JKP Level 1 & 2 training. All JKP training courses can also be booked through the Datacolor website or directly through MGR International.
