A world record at this year’s CES: Panasonic is presenting the world’s largest plasma display. With a 150-inch diagonal, this giant among plasma displays reaches previously unknown dimensions. The huge screen impresses with a never-before-seen resolution of 8.84 megapixels (4,096 x 2,160)—four times Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080). With perfect reproduction of moving images and true-to-life color reproduction, the prototype guarantees spectacular impressions across a width of 3.35 meters and a height of 1.87 meters. Its impressive live display of life-size people is only one example of this first-class performance.

As market leader in large-format plasma displays, Panasonic is presenting further groundbreaking developments at CES. The technology known as “Double Efficiency,” already presented in Las Vegas in a 42-inch plasma panel, effectively helps reduce power consumption. Panasonic’s new products also set new benchmarks in developing ever thinner and lighter plasma TVs.

The potential of plasma technology is far from exhausted by these innovations. According to all forecasts, high-definition TV will become increasingly important in the near future, as will Blu-ray, the HD format now preferred by most Hollywood film studios. Professional use of plasma technology will also continue to grow in areas including medicine, education and public communication. Demand for high-quality plasma displays will therefore continue to rise. They stand for high-contrast, natural color reproduction, perfectly rendered motion and wide viewing angles. Panasonic will further intensify research and development to open new paths for plasma technology. The electronics manufacturer is guided not only by the continuous improvement of product quality, but also by environmental considerations. Panasonic was the world’s first company to manufacture completely lead-free plasma displays. A 100,000-hour plasma-panel life and environmentally friendly production are further results of these efforts.
