The Sony VPL-FX40 and VPL-FE40 installation projectors offer the right presentation solution for a wide range of applications. The models are used both in conventional larger conference rooms and in engineering or design environments. They score particularly well here through very precise reproduction. Their high light output also makes them suitable for events, concerts and trade shows. Three inorganic LCD TFT panels using Sony’s proprietary BrightEra™ technology achieve a brightness of 4,000 ANSI lumens with a contrast ratio of 700:1. Compared with conventional LCD panels, the new material has greater resistance to ultraviolet light, delivering superior image quality and longer panel life. Thanks to this innovative technology and native XGA resolution (1,024 x 768 pixels) on the VPL-FX40 and SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050 pixels) on the VPL-FE40, the devices impress with brilliant images in every projection application.
In addition to their exceptional “inner values,” the jury naturally also considered the outstanding design when awarding the prize. Sony—long known for the aesthetic design of its products—convinced the jury with the projectors’ distinctive matte anthracite appearance. The models therefore stood out clearly among the entries in the iF competition.
The iF product design award is one of the world’s most significant design competitions. The international expert jury selected 821 winners from 2,771 entries. Since 1954, the prestigious prize has been awarded annually to innovative and outstanding industrial products. The award ceremony, at which the winners of the 50 iF gold awards for the competition’s best entries will be announced for the first time, will take place at the opening of CeBIT on March 4, 2008.
