TrekStor managing director Daniel Szmigiel said the company’s first micro hard drive was designed for mobile data transfer. Weighing 65 to 75 grams, the aluminium-cased DataStation microdisk stored business data, photographs, music and video, needed little power and operated quietly. It was preformatted and used a high-speed USB 2.0 connection compatible with USB 1.1.

Nero BackItUp2 allowed individual files or entire drives to be backed up at the touch of a button, compressing data on the fly and optionally protecting backups with passwords.

The drive shipped with Nero BackItUp 2 Essentials, a USB 2.0 cable, software CD and manual. Recommended retail prices were €79.99 for 20 GB, €149 for 80 GB and €179 for 120 GB.
