Memup Introduces Mediadisk MX

Memup has introduced the Mediadisk MX multimedia hard drive with capacities up to 1 TB and 1080i HDMI or DVI output.

The Mediadisk MX manages audio, video and photo libraries from one unit connected to a television, stereo system or projector, without requiring a computer.

“Digital convergence is now entering German living rooms,” said Memup European marketing director Pierre Girard. He said the company’s 3.5-inch multimedia drives handled formats including MP3, JPEG, Xvid, MPEG and AVI and could operate as video players, photo viewers, music players or portable storage.

Mediadisk MX configurations range from 320 GB to 1 TB. Features include:

A Sigma Designs processor for image decompression, playback and file reading

HDMI and DVI outputs supporting 1920 × 1080 at 1080i

An illuminated front-panel LCD

Ultra Silent & Cooling System chassis cooling

A component-style enclosure

The Mediadisk MX was scheduled for availability in early February 2008. Memup planned to add Mediadisk TX and ZX models with LAN and Wi-Fi support, while the ZX would also include television recording and a DVB-T tuner.

Prices were €229.90 for 320 GB, €299.90 for 500 GB, €349.90 for 750 GB and €449.90 for 1 TB.
