NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay TV, and Viasat, a leading operator of a digital satellite pay-TV platform for Scandinavia and the Baltic states, are expanding their existing cooperation on the use of the NDS VideoGuard encryption system.
A further agreement has also been concluded covering the provision of the market-leading MediaHighway middleware, XTV DVR technology and a customised electronic programme guide to present Viasat’s new HD pay-TV offering with reliable protection.
VideoGuard, MediaHighway and XTV are all market-leading solutions for digital pay TV: VideoGuard CA and DRM currently protect content on 82.7 million active digital receivers worldwide. 76.4 million NDS middleware clients are in use worldwide and more than 10.4 million digital video recorders are powered by NDS technology.

Viasat Broadcasting is the largest business area within Modern Times Group (MTG), an international media group based in Sweden.
