Yahoo! has rejected Microsoft’s first offer to acquire the internet group. Company management considers Yahoo! undervalued in the 45-billion-dollar offer. Microsoft is currently prepared to pay 31 US dollars per share. American business media speculate that Yahoo! wants to provoke an improved offer of up to 40 US dollars per share. Microsoft would then have to dig considerably deeper into its pockets and put more than 50 billion dollars on the table for Yahoo! — for the benefit of Yahoo!’s owners. Various cooperation models, including with Google or AOL, are also being speculated about, with whose help the Microsoft offer is to be rebuffed. Yahoo! is continuing to examine all options, according to reports from Sunnyvale.
