‘It does not matter at all what information the seller provides; in the event of a problem, the buyer can direct any legal claims only at that seller,’ adds Primera Managing Director Andreas Hoffmann, advising customers ‘to check carefully in each individual case whether they are negotiating with an authorised sales partner or not.’
Moreover, the argument that money can be saved by purchasing on the ‘grey market’ does not hold either. It may be possible for the purchase price to be lower than that quoted by Primera or one of its authorised sales partners. In the long term, however, it does not pay: ‘On the one hand, the customer does not benefit from a possible discount; on the other, they voluntarily waive the warranty and the associated free repair by highly qualified specialists using original parts.’ Unlike other companies, Primera does accept repair orders for devices purchased on the ‘grey market’, but in that case the customer must also bear the costs.
To take account of customers’ increased need for security, Primera Technology recently extended the warranty on its Disc Publisher products by one year to two years. This is a ‘genuine’ warranty, hitherto unusual in the industry, which must be distinguished from the statutory guarantee period. The only requirement is that the customer obtained the device from an authorised sales partner and registers it at http://www.primeragarantie.de. The warranty also applies retrospectively.
