Toshiba developed the HD DVD format with NEC. After Warner and its affiliated studios decided to rely exclusively on Blu Ray in future, prices for HD players and discs began to fall. Experts expect Toshiba to stop producing recorders and players from next week. The only remaining ones are therefore Asus and LiteOn, although their withdrawal is also only a matter of time.
