HD and a new regional studio — Hit-TV.eu’s topics for the start of the year

Following the extremely successful year 2007, Hit-TV.eu is also beginning 2008 with several innovations. Hit-TV.eu received unexpected (and certainly involuntary) help from a major media group that switched off its HD channels last week.

Thus, according to its own statement, Hit-TV.eu is the only remaining provider of HD content in the German free-to-air TV landscape after ‘Anixe HD’. Through integration into the DivX Connected Box platform, Hit-TV.eu is in the fortunate position of being among the currently least expensive platforms bringing free HD content to the television at home. Development towards HD will continue to be driven forward intensively, so that more and more HD content will enter the programme. Naturally, all HD contributions will also be made available in SD quality for users with less powerful internet connections.

New to the group of companies is the Thuringia regional studio, active since February 20, 2008. Under the direction of experienced TV producer Frank Buttig, the Thuringian regional studio will enrich the overall programme with new formats. Since December 2006, Frank Buttig has already contributed the very successful magazine ‘Modell und Bahn’ to Hit-TV.eu’s programme. Further interesting programmes are in the planning or production phase. Also new at Hit-TV.eu is a representative office in Chemnitz. From there, activities in the graphic field and in marketing will currently take place above all.

Also not to be forgotten is the Queer Time channel newly launched in January. This specialist channel will cover particular topics for gay and lesbian target groups.

Hit-TV.eu is an internet television provider that, since September 2006, has very successfully made contributions and programmes available free of charge on 15 channels in full TV resolution and, increasingly since January 2008, also in HD. Hit-Tv.eu currently has average audience growth of approximately 20 to 30 percent per month.

Hit-TV.eu relied on DivX technology from the beginning. Hit-TV.eu therefore has higher picture quality than most internet TV offerings, corresponding to and sometimes even exceeding classic television. HD content has increasingly been offered since January 2008. Since December 2007, Hit-TV.eu has made the leap from the computer into the living room with the DivX Connected Box. This set-top box is independent of internet provider and there are no monthly fees apart from the purchase cost. Hit-TV.eu currently offers almost 1,000 contributions and programmes, between 20 seconds and one hour long, free of charge. Since October 2007, these can also be multilingual and interactive — similar to a DVD. However, this does not work in the web player.
