The company is currently being given a holding structure in which the DSL business is being spun off into a separate division. freenet is focusing on the mobile Internet and content, so the access business is not necessary.
The spokeswoman left open which companies had expressed interest in the DSL business with its approximately 1.3 million customers. The proceeds from the sale could be distributed to shareholders. freenet also announced that a share buyback programme is planned. However, the supervisory board still has to approve it, the spokeswoman said. She expressed satisfaction with business in the past financial year.
For 2007, the company had forecast earnings before taxes, interest and depreciation of 250 million euros and pre-tax profit of 160 million euros. The final work on preparing the annual financial statements was still under way, but there was no reason to assume that the earnings targets would not be achieve, the spokeswoman said.
