Quark Inc. today announced the launch of http://ilovedesign.com, the new community website for designers. Designed by neoco.com, the website was developed on the basis of an interactive and easily accessible community concept inspired by a love of design. At ilovedesign.com, visitors can view work and video statements by leading designers such as David Carson, Peter Saville, Chip Kidd and many others. In addition, every user can exhibit their own design work and thus become part of the creative community.
Visitors to http://ilovedesign.com are encouraged to become members of the community by creating their own profile and uploading their designs. As a user, you can also search for, view and rate the work of other members and contact them securely. The website’s content is primarily created by the users themselves. The aim is to develop a platform where designers can show their work, be inspired by others and share their love of design with like-minded people.
Visitors can draw inspiration from video statements by influential designers such as Carson, Saville and Kidd, in which the stars of the industry tell their own stories and philosophise about the importance of design today and future developments. Designers can also learn how successful global brand companies such as OTTO, Serviceplan, Design Week and many others use QuarkXPress® 7, and can view sample layouts.
“This is a super-cool platform for designers who not only want to show their work but also put it up for discussion – and want to rate the work of others,” says David Carson. “I am excited to see what people from everywhere will upload. I am sure there will be some really interesting and refreshing things among them.”
The website is part of a large-scale marketing campaign featuring numerous activities intended to inspire the creativity of today’s designers, including a “Design of the Week” competition, seminars with leading designers, a Facebook application entitled “What typeface are you?”, email marketing, and online and offline contributions. The campaign launches on February 27 and will continue until June 15. It builds on the extremely successful “Fall in Love with QuarkXPress 7” marketing campaign and continues the theme.
“We have created a website that will inspire and excite designers. There are currently so many community portals online, but none specifically for designers and none where designers can put their work up for discussion,” explains Gavin Drake, Marketing Director at Quark. “For us, this website is not a Quark® website, but a website through which designers can become part of a community and receive a forum in which to exchange ideas, converse, comment on and criticise work, but also generally discuss what inspires them most.”
