“Several mastering studios recently asked for this modification. Customers impressed by the Aurora converter’s sound and specifications needed alternative level settings,” explains Phil Moon, responsible for sales and marketing at Lynx USA.
Lynx co-founder Bob Bauman subsequently developed the 1824 trim option. Prototypes were sent to users including Audio Intervisual Design in the United States and mastering engineer Ray Staff in the United Kingdom.
Los Angeles-based Audio Intervisual Design purchased the unit immediately for forthcoming postproduction work on a feature film. Staff at Alchemy tested and purchased two Aurora 1824 converters and has since used them for 5.1 mastering.
“The Auroras are essential to my vinyl setup because we depend on good D/A converters to feed our Neumann cutting lathes,” Staff says. “Our vinyl clients are audiophile record labels with extremely high standards, so the Lynx Aurora converters quickly became indispensable.”
